Agusan del Sur (Agsur) knowing where you are...

Agusan del Sur, the place I'm in is a province belonging and within CARAGA region. Situated and bounded on the north by Agusan del Norte, on the south by Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte, on the east by Surigao del Sur and on the west by Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon. This province comprises fourteen municipalities, seven (7) of which are located along Maharlika highway namely: Sibagat, Bayugan, Prosperidad, San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan and Trento. The other seven (7) are as follows: Esperanza, San Luis, Talacogon, La Paz, Loreto, Sta. Josefa and Veruela are along the Agusan river.

People-most of the original native residents came from the three tribes, the Manobos, Higaonons, and the Banwaons. These tribes eventually came from their ethnic origins, the Negritoes and Mamanwas who originally occupies the heavily forested Agusan del Sur a long time ago. From the three tribes, a number of them still exist in the innermost barangays of forested area in the far municipalities of this province.

And now due to its progressing development towards becoming more productive province due to its resources, many settlers from other parts of our country have had their investments, trades, and services on this province. Intermarriages between the natives or locals and the settlers resulted to assorted ethnic groups.Today on this province consisting of mixed filipino-breed, on the innermost forested area the native manobo language still exist but cebuano is the dominant spoken dialect within the locality. Tagalog and English language are commonly used on schools.

Agusan del Sur is the place it is and the term 'Agsur' is the shortcut name to some commoners of this place.
